Where Is Your Energy Actually Going Today?

In a busy and dynamic work environment, it’s easy to spend 90% of our day fighting things we cannot change: corporate decisions, other people’s opinions, endless loops of bureaucracy, or sudden roadblocks.

The ancient Stoics had a simple model for this: The Circle of Control.

  • The Outer Circle: Everything that happens outside of us—company politics, market conditions, or how others act. Trying to control this only creates exhaustion and frustration.

  • The Inner Circle: The only place where true power lies—our perspective, our boundaries, our reactions, and our choices in the present moment.

Whenever you want to pause and realign your focus, try asking yourself three grounding questions:

  1. What am I currently trying to fix that is completely outside my control? (And what happens if I consciously let go of fighting it?)

  2. What is quietly present right now that gives me strength? (Often, it’s a quiet cup of coffee, a clear boundary we set, or the simple competence we carry within us—things we overlook when we rush.)

  3. How can I shift my perspective right now? (Instead of asking „Why is this happening to me?“, actively ask: „What is the very next small, meaningful step I can take right now that is completely within my control?“)

Acceptance doesn't mean resignation. It is the starting point of true self-agency.

By changing your perspective, you change your reaction. By changing your reaction, you change your reality.

What is one thing in your outer circle today that you are finally ready to stop fighting?
